AC FAQs
HOW LONG DOES AN AIR CONDITIONER TYPICALLY LAST?
The life span of an AC system can vary greatly from location to location. A DFW AC will likely need to be replace more often since it is located in a warmer climate verse those located in cooler, dryer climates.
HOW MANY BTUS DOES MY AIR CONDITIONER NEED?
The size of your home will impact the number of BTUs your AC needs. For a rough estimate, figure out the total square footage of your home or the area you are cooling, and multiply by 24 to determine the minimum BTUs necessary. WHY IS MY AIR CONDITIONER CONSTANTLY RUNNING, BUT NOT BLOWING COLD AIR?
If you air conditioner seems to always be running but is not blowing extremely cold air it’s likely caused by a dirty condenser. Also, there could be a leak in your unit causing the unit to be out of refrigerant.
WHAT CAUSES AIR CONDITIONERS TO FROST OVER ON THE OUTSIDE?
When this occurs it is likely caused by the amount of humidity in the air which can lead the evaporator to get cold enough to cause the excess moisture to freeze. Most often this occurs because the coils or filters are dirty, however another cause could be your AC system is low on refrigerant.
HOW DO I FIX A FROZEN AIR CONDITIONER?
A temporary solution for a frozen AC system is turning off the unit until it thaws out. To prevent the problem from happening again, clean the coils and filters. If the problem continues to occur, you need to have a professional inspect your air conditioning system for leaks.
WHAT DOES SEER MEAN?
SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. This is a measurement of the seasonal or annual efficiency of an air conditioner.
Why is my Air Filter Important?
The air filter is a vital component of your cooling system. A clean air filter will let air flow freely through the unit and prevent debris from entering the system. A clean air filter will allow the air conditioning unit to run efficiently. We recommend that you clean your air filter at least twice per year but with pets or people who suffer from allergies, you may want to change your filter more often.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
